[link]I am EXTREMELY happy with how this piece turned out
. I feel like he's playful and a bit rowdy...and can picture him exploring ancient undersea ruins. I know that's corny but for some reason this piece was just a lot of fun for me, and I feel like he has a lot of life for a little sculpt! The last time I sculpted a merman was 1998
.
As you can see, this is a VERY small sculpt! I used supersculpy firm mixed with supersculpy. I'm very happy with his face, expression, and pose...I feel it came out really well for the size
! I'll probably end up wearing this one quite a bit, and I have a female mermaid about 70% done as well that I'll be selling with him as a pair, or separately. She should be done next week.
I like the idea of designing a merman with a shark body for added masculinity...and I also added some male shark anatomy called "claspers" on his front. I also have an old Photoshop painting with a merman and mermaid that I really need to get back to at some point...this figure is very similar to the merman in my painting.
This is a pendant design with a flat back, yet still has a mostly 3D feel as he's leaning forward, with just part of his back against the rocky base. I'll be casting these in a sturdy polyurethane resin, then paint washing them, and finally cording them on leather crimped with a glass bead

Probably all colors...Games Workshop who makes the washes I use, just came out with new washes, re-marketed as "Shades". I'm hoping to get some today, because they have an army type green (that would look like a natural green on these), and a sorta turquoise one. But I'll probably be doing these in all colors. I'd also like to pigment the resin and do some that are sorta a peach-ish coral color....but I can cast in any color.
but this would indeed have to be a possible future purchase for meez!!
