Dean Winchester Figure by Meadowknight Dean Winchester Figure by Meadowknight
EDIT: CASTINGS/DUPLICATES AVAILABLE FOR SALE, IF YOU'RE INTERESTED SEND ME A NOTE :)!!

Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) from the TV series Supernatural. He's finally done! After hours of sculpting and a little bit of sanding, I'm very happy with this figure :). His pose I kept simple in hopes of making a mold sometime soon, so that's why his posture isn't all that exciting. I used Supersculpey FIRM and a pick tool, I also used a couple pieces of bent wire for tools (pieces of floral wire bent into a "U" shape, nothing fancy).

Sorry about the ghetto panorama effect, I wish I knew how the heck to use some of these photo programs we have, lol.

I do not own Dean, Jensen Ackles or Supernatural..Jensen is copywritten to himself, Supernatural and Dean are copyrights of the WB, lol. This is strictly a piece of fan art and if I make a mold the duplicates will be for my own artistic practice, learning and for close friends.

Do you have any intention of selling? Have you done one of Castiel?

Thanks!

I was selling these..but the mold became warped with age, so I can't make anymore without doing another mold (which I can't afford..silicone is pricey!). I sold out of the figures as well.

If you paid for both the silicone and a casting I could make one for you, but it would come to over $200.00 total, probably about $275.00.

I started a Castiel ages ago but then lost interest and stopped, so they may never happen now.

Nope..and it probably won't happen, I sort of lost interest in the series during series 7 :(. They bent Christian themes way beyond my comfort zone, and it got too dramatic so I stopped following the show. I may give season 7 a chance one day when it's on netflix, but I'm not in any hurry to. Sorry!

Hi, thank you! :) No worries, your English is fine!

I used Supersculpey FIRM to sculpt the piece (with a little tin foil on the inside for stability), and snake shot bee bees for the eyes (by taking apart a snake shot 22 bullet).

I will be casting these in a sturdy tinted resin/plastic and selling them. I just updated my description with a price estimate if you're interested :). Take care!

Yes I sell castings of this figure. $130 for a plain white casting, $200 for fully painted. The materials are expensive and the castings are extremely limited (the figure is just over 8 inches tall). I have photos of the castings and a painted one up in the featured part of my gallery. Take care, and please note me if you'd like to buy a figure :)!

Yeah he's a bit of an older figure..I really need to do an updated one. I'm about to submit some photos of a painted one I'm selling if you're interested. Jensen Ackles IS actually a pretty big guy, and his coat is bulky...but it's hard to get proportions PERFECT. This figure is from early 2007.

Hi! Thanks for the kind compliment :D! I may do a Sam, but not sure if I will at this size (it's very possible). I know I'm planning on doing a small chibi (cartoony/anime) figure of both of them at some point (right now I'm ocupied with a large comission though so it'll be a little while).

I have a feeling a Sam, and possibly another Dean will happen at some point though. I love the show, and practicing sculpting people is the best kind of practice! :)

I found a picture of the Dean bust on Google images by typing in "Dean Bust". I'm not sure who carries it, but saw a website selling them for like $118 a week or so ago (probably one of the links on Google images). You should be able to find it if you use "bust" in your search. Here's a link to the picture-

I'm not a fan of the official bust, it doesn't look like him in my opinion. It'd be cool if the brand NECA (OR ME!!) did action figures eventually, they seem to get likenesses right.

Thanks so much for the kind compliments :D!!

Trust me, I know what you mean about figures falling apart! I've been sculpting since I was a little kid, and it's taken me a HELL OF ALLOT of practice to get to where I am now with it...and I still have so much to learn @_@!! For years I never tried people because I didn't think I could do it, then I decided to go for it. It took some time but I finally started getting better at it. There are ways of getting around figures falling apart, but it does still happen now and then to me if I slack on the armature. You basically need some form of armature (like a solid skeleton under the clay). I usually use wire and foil, or just foil. Sometimes I'll get the pose I want in foil, cover it with a thin layer of clay, then bake it. When you do that, you have a solid body and pose to work over so there's nothing to fall apart 9the basic form is already made solid), you just add clay over it and sculpt all your details over the basic form. It also depends on what clay you use, harder is always better for details...if you wanna try sculpting again, get Supersculpey FIRM (it's in a gray and green box and the clay itself is gray...it's what this Dean is made from, and pros use it). You have to work it in your hands a bit to get it soft enough to form, but the stuff gets great detail, I love it! You have to buy it at a specialty art store though. I order mine from Carter Sexton Art supplies (online), and they ship the stuff for free too usually! If you'd like any help with tips on sculpting, feel free to note me :). I'll help if I can, take care!

XD!! thanks!!

Yeah, allot of people are complaining to me about the official one! I looked it up and MAAAAAAAAN...it is fugly! I mean, the sculpting talent is there, but the likeness isn't. I showed a few family members the difference too...and they couldn't believe how ugly it is. I mean, how could you get such a handsome dude to look so bad??!!

Right now I'm super busy with a HUGE project (sorta a professional private commission which involves a crapload of sculpting!). It's still in negotiations..but I'll be tied up with it for a while if things keep going with it. So, this means I have no time for painting these. I only have ONE casting available for sale right now, that I was originally gonna keep for myself...but I need the money, so if someone wants it I'm selling it. I'd cast more but my supplies are tapped out. the one available has been cast with a blue flourecent pigment, so it's light blue in color and it glows under a black light!! Right now I'm selling the non-painted ones for $130 with free shipping (the first casting I charged, and received $150 for). I've sold 3 figures so far, and gotten feedback on all of them..EVERYONE FLIPPED OUT! :D!! Apparently the pictures don't do them justice...it's awesome to get good feedback after all the work. If you're interested, just send me a note. One advantage of the figure not being painted, is all you can see is all the sculpting details...which in a way is nice. Take care, and thanks for the feedback :).

If you'd like one soon, let me know and I'll take your name down to reserve one for you. I'll have a photo up of the first casting when I get one done...right now I'm still working on the mold, I've got my fingers crossed that the process will be a success! If all goes well I should have a few castings available by the weekend.

I am, I'm working on a mold right now :). I have to charge a bit though since the figure is just over 9 inches tall and requires allot of materials to cast. I've already had a pre-order for one, and someone else wants a painted casting. Right now the price for a casting (un-painted) is $150, for a painted one it will be around $200 (painting takes ALLOT of time). If you're still interested send me a note and I'll reserve you a casting :). I should have a few available by the weekend. I took a look at the bust they re-leased, and uuckk...I like my figure better. in whoever sculpted that's defense, allot of what's wrong with it is the paint job. A bad paint job can ruin a good sculpt. I don't get the pose though, it looks strange to me.

Hi, thanks for the kind compliment :). I'm 25, and I started taking art serious when I was about 11..but I started with play dough when I was maybe 4 or 5? I made his pose simple because I plan on making a mold, and I'd still like to...I just can't afford the materials right now as I'm in-between jobs :(. The only things I have available for sale right now are a Silent Hill Nurse, original sculpture (not a casting, an original so the price is a bit high, but fair for what it is), she's fully painted and everything, and I'm selling her for $420 with free shipping. I'm also selling painted chibi style Resident Evil figures for $50 each, those are castings, but hours go into the paint job :). If you're interested in those you can find them in my gallery here [link] (check out my gallery for more angles of her!) and here [link] for the Resident Evil one (I have 3 different characters in my gallery that I have castings of). I have a Dean Winchester chess piece in my gallery too...I have castings of him, and I'd sell you a chess piece for a solid colored (non painted) casting for $20. As for the larger figure, I may make another one of him holding up the shotgun and try to make a mold of that, but there's a good chance I'll just cast up this one. Another option would be, I'd probably sell a painted casting of this particular figure for about $150 (cover time and materials, I can't cast up many). If you trusted me, and did a pre-order payment of $150 that would give me money for the supplies I'd need to make a mold :). So, there's a few options if you're interested.

I haven't seen the bust yet that was released, but I've heard that from other people comenting on my figure! XD That the bust isn't that great, lol. It was probably sculpted by a dude, that's the problem, LOL. I have a crush on Dean, and I looked at a TON of reference shots at every angle I could find so it captured how handsome he is. I really wish I had the money to do a mold, because there's a chance I may be seeing him at Comic Con next weekend if I'm able to go (sorta depends on if my nurse figur sells :(). Anyways, I'm writing a novel here :P. Thanks for taking the time to comment! I really want to make duplicates, and I have some supplies now that I could use, but can't because I have no money to replace them.

I've been over here counting my pennies. I also checked out your gallery. I loved that wolf pawn figure, and innerlove (I think I'm naming that right), and of course, Dean.

I do have some questions. I need to know the dimensions of the Dean figure. How long would it take you to make a casting? I would prefer delivery by UPS or the Postal Service, and also, I would appreciate it if you would leave him unpainted, because I'd like to be the one to paint those green eyes of his, and that stubble.

Okay, I'm going to stop drooling now.

Speaking of ebay, did you see that professional sculptor over there with that Jensen Ackles mego-sized head?

I gotta admit, I recognized the lips, but the rest of it was a stretch for me. I can't remember how much he wanted for just the head, but it was pricy, and the deal was that people who wanted a head would pay first, THEN he'd sculpt it. I think he said he'd already done one of Brad Pitt.

Your Dean is perfect. I can see the boy now, standing there all patient and deadly, waiting for the fugly to show up so he can raise that shotgun and blow it back to hell.

I'm willing to take a chance and pre-order because I'm getting a good vibe from you. Also, I just can't believe that anybody who does such beautiful is gonna try to cheat me. Yeah, I'm channeling girly-man Sam Winchester, even though I'm definitely a Dean girl.

So, I know it's the weekend, but let me know about the time and the other stuff I mentioned whenever you can. I can mail a postal money order to you this Friday.

Hope you get to go to Comic Con!
